From the moment it was founded Eufemia aims to inform about and raise awareness of European topics, especially the opportunities that the European Union offers to young people in order to encourage and support their mobility.

The initiatives are based on the practices of non-formal education and active citizenship. We offer information and support for young people living in Italy who wish to take part in an international mobility project individually or in a group.

Our regular activities are:

  • Promoting the Erasmus+ (formerly Youth in Action) programme in local events, in schools and universities.
  • European Voluntary Service (EVS) sending, hosting and coordinating organisation
  • Sending and hosting organisation for International Youth Exchanges
  • Organizing and taking part in training courses and seminars.

The aim of Youth Exchanges is to get groups of young people from different countries together so they can explore their social and cultural differences and similarities. Youth Exchanges are targeted at young people between the age of 13 and 25 (up to 20% of participants may be aged between 25 and 30). They receive the unique opportunity to experience significant mutual learning situations and to strengthen their feeling of being Europeans.

Each exchange must have a theme that is relevant to the daily experiences of the young people involved but also has a clear European dimension. Themes could cover numerous issues, such as young people in society, racism and xenophobia, local heritage, drugs, the environment, etc.

European Voluntary Service (EVS)

From 2012 Eufemia is accredited as an EVS sending, hosting and coordinating organisation. The European Voluntary Service (EVS) provides young Europeans aged 17-30 with the unique chance to express their personal commitment through unpaid and full-time voluntary activities in a foreign country within or outside the EU. In this way, it seeks to develop solidarity, mutual understanding and tolerance among young people, thus contributing to reinforcing social cohesion in the European Union and to promoting young people’s active citizenship. (Eufemia’s reference number in the EVS database is: 2012-IT-34)
