EVS is open to people aged 17 to 30, legally residing in one of the EU countries.

Participation in an EVS project requires a preparation period that depends on the timing of the selection and approval of projects (applying to a project, administrative practices, pending approval …) and participation in the training (before departure, on arrival, in medium term and to return).

The EVS can be done in:

  • all 28 member countries of the European Union;
  • EFTA countries (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein);
  • candidate countries (Turkey and Switzerland);
  • Eastern Europe and the Caucasus;
  • other countries in the rest of the world (with times and different procedures).

The EVS projects can have different backgrounds and topics, such as: 

  • environment,
  • art,
  • culture,
  • social services,
  • youth, civil protection,
  • development cooperation,
  • heritage,
  • sport etc.

The volunteers’ tasks differ depending on the project’s area development and its target objectives.

EVS tries to develop solidarity and promote tolerance among young people, primarily to reinforce social cohesion in the European Union.

It promotes active citizenship and supports the development of local communities.

Eufemia pays special attention to the ongoing training of its staff and to the exchange of knowledge and good practices in the youth sector on a local and international level.

The International Exchanges are part of an Erasmus+ project with an aim to promote youth mobility through socio-cultural exchanges between groups of young people.

On an youth exchange, groups of young people between 13 and 30 years (divided by age groups), from different backgrounds from two or more countries have an opportunity to meet, discuss and confront on various themes. As well as to learn about each other’s countries and cultures by taking part in a 5-21 days long stay. Furthermore happens also the sharing of different visions and purposes of their domesic organization with the peers from other countries.

The projects are funded under Action KA1 of the “Erasmus +”.

The EVS (European voluntary service) is an international volunteering program financed by the European commission.

The EVS experience allows volunteers to have a great live-changing experience on their personal journey of life, to acquire new skills useful to their personal and professional sides of life, to learn a language and to learn about cultures and lifestyles different from their own. EVS projects promotes social integration and active participation, the basic, the construction of a Europe of the citizens.

The projects can last over a period ranging from 2 to 12 months. Each project involves a partnership between a volunteer, a sending and a hosting organization, as well as an organization coordinator (which can be the sending or the hosting organization).

It is planned that the European Commission covers 90% of the outward / return travel costs and fully covers the cost of meals, accommodation, local transport, insurance and language training. In addition to the volunteer it is also guaranteed a monthly allowance whose amount varies from country to country.

Volunteers in Italy, for example, receive 115 EURO monthly.

The association supports the young people interested in preparing their application and search for the project in compliance with their interests, needs and expectations.

The European Voluntary Service is NOT:

  • occasional volunteer, part-time;
  • an internship in a company, in a humanitarian organization or an NGO;
  • a recreation or tourist;
  • a language course abroad;
  • paid work.
